Barry's School of Motoring: Professional Standards & Policy

1. Driving Licenses & Fitness to Drive

• License Check: Pupils must hold a valid UK provisional driving license (or a full license for refresher courses) and present it on their first lesson.
• Vision: You must be able to read a new-style number plate from a distance of 20 metres (with glasses or contact lenses if required).
• Health: Pupils must inform the instructor of any medical condition or medication that may affect their ability to drive safely.
• Safety First: We reserve the right to cancel a lesson if we suspect the pupil is under the influence of alcohol or drugs; in such cases, the full lesson fee will still apply.

2. Lesson Bookings & Cancellations

• 48-Hour Notice: To respect the instructor's schedule and other pupils, at least 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
• Late Cancellations: Failure to provide 48 hours' notice may result in a charge for the full lesson fee.
• Instructor Cancellations: We reserve the right to amend or cancel lessons due to mechanical breakdown, instructor illness, or immovable traffic. In these rare cases, lessons will be rescheduled at no extra cost.

3. Payments & Block Bookings

• Standard Rates: Lessons are currently charged at £40 per hour.
• Expiry Policy: Payments for bookings expire 3 months from the date of purchase.
• Extensions: Extensions may be granted if requested within the 3-month timeframe.

4. Practical Driving Tests

• Test Readiness: Use of the tuition vehicle for a practical test is at the instructor's discretion. The vehicle will only be provided if the pupil has reached the required safety standard.
• Test Bookings: While I will make every effort to be available for pre-booked tests, the instructor cannot be held responsible for tests cancelled by the DVSA.
• Priority: We reserve the right to amend regular driving lessons to accommodate pupils with pre-booked driving tests.

5. Privacy & Data Protection (GDPR)

• Data Usage: Any personal information (name, address, license details) is used solely for the purpose of driving tuition and will never be shared with third parties without your consent.
• Photography: Images of pupils who have passed their test may be used on our "Passes" gallery or social media only with the pupil's explicit verbal or written permission.

6. Contact Policy

• Response Time: If you have sent a message and have not received a response within 5 working days, please re-contact us to ensure your enquiry has been received.
